- When will abstracts for WORLDSymposium 2019 be published or be made available to the public?
WORLDSymposium does not publish the full-text of the abstracts online; the full-text is available only from Elsevier. Accepted abstracts submitted to WORLDSymposium prior to October 1, 2018 will be published in the February 2019 special “Lysosomes Issue” of Molecular Genetics and Metabolism (MGM). Registered attendees will receive an electronic copy of the program and abstracts when they check in at the WORLDSymposium 2019 registration desk.The program and abstracts become copyrighted and are only available to non-registrants through Elsevier.
It is the policy of WORLDSymposium to publish all abstracts with the list of authors exactly as the abstract was submitted to WORLDSymposium. The first author of the submitted abstract will be listed as the Platform Speaker (presenting author) on the Preliminary Program, Agenda, and Poster List.
- Who will receive the platform notification if an abstract is accepted for presentation from the platform?
As stated in the abstract submission guidelines, all communications regarding platform and poster selection for WORLDSymposium 2019 will be directed only to the first author of the abstract. WORLDSymposium is required to reapply each year for ACCME accreditation to provide CME credit for attendance at WORLDSymposium 2019. ACCME guidelines require us to communicate directly with the first author for all decisions related to the agenda and platform speaker selection. We are unable to communicate any decisions regarding platform speaker selection or verification with anyone other than the first author. WORLDSymposium communications to the first author will clearly state “Only the first author of the abstract will receive this notification.” The first author may then share the notification as they deem appropriate.
- Is it required to submit my platform presentation ahead of time?
All presentations for WORLDSymposium 2019 must be submitted for review by the deadline of Monday, January 7, 2019. We are unable to approve CME credit for any presentations which are not reviewed and approved prior to the scientific meeting. Any presenters who are unable to submit their presentations prior to the scientific meeting will be unable to provide an oral/platform presentation, and an alternate abstract presentation will be selected in their place. Please be aware the presentations from WORLDSymposium are not published in any format. There are 85 presentations to review for ACCME compliance, which is why the slides are required in advance of the program. The review is a time-consuming process that needs to be well-documented in order to meet ACCME requirements. As long as the core content is reviewed prior to the conference, we will be able to review minor changes in the week prior to the conference.
Please be aware as you prepare the slides that no corporate names, logos or brand names may be utilized anywhere in the slide content or format. The number of slides will be limited to 12-15 slides. - Do I need to include a disclosure slide?
All presentations require a disclosure slide for the presenting author. This slide should be inserted as the second slide of the presentation, after the title slide. The disclosures should address all of the elements included on the Disclosure Slide Template. (Download disclosure slide here.)
- As a platform speaker, do I have to present a poster?
Platform speakers have the option of presenting a poster to allow the audience the opportunity to ask more in-depth questions about their platform presentation. You or one of your co-authors may present the poster at your assigned poster session. You will be assigned to a poster presentation on either Tuesday, February 5, 2019, or Wednesday, February 6, 2019. A poster board will not automatically be reserved for you. You must notify amber@gmimeetings if you wish to have a poster space reserved for your platform poster. All requests for poster space for platform speakers must be submitted NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 21, 2018. All poster board assignments will be finalized at that time.
- What is the deadline to request a poster board for my platform presentation?

- I am unable to present. Can my colleague present for me?
Your request needs to be reviewed by the planning committee. Please submit your request to Amber via the contact form.
- Do I have to pay for my own registration and hotel?
Platform speakers are responsible for all of their own expenses, including registration, hotel and all other travel expenses. Register by January 4, 2019 to take advantage of early registration discounts. A limited block of discounted rooms at the Hyatt Regency Orlando will be available until January 4, 2019 or when the room block fills, whichever comes first.
- What is the deadline to submit my presentation?
The deadline is Monday, January 07, 2019. Instructions on how to upload your presentation will be sent to the first author of the abstract in December, 2018. All presentations must be submitted by the deadline in order to be reviewed for ACCME compliance.
- What do I need to do with my presentation onsite?
Please check in at the Speaker Ready Room and review your presentation with a CME representative to make sure the presentation is correct and has all required elements.
- Are we allowed to include our corporate logo in our presentation?
If your corporate presentation template includes your company’s name or logo, or any trademarked drug names or logos, you must use a different presentation template. NO corporate logos or names of any kind are allowed in any presentation template or presentation content.
- Who do I contact if I have questions regarding my presentation?

- Can I get an international letter of invitation?
Yes. Your meeting registration confirmation will include a link to generate a customized letter of invitation, which can be used when applying for a visa.
